How to calculate the last digit of Pan card

2 years, 4 months ago
I was just searching about how to decode PAN card number:

So, here is what the numbers denote:

1. First 3 characters are random between AAA to ZZZ

2. 4th letter represents the status of the PAN holder, which can be one of the following:

C – Company
P – Person
H — HUF (Hindu Undivided Family)
F — Firm
A — Association of Persons (AOP)
T — AOP (Trust)
B — Body of Individuals (BOI)
L — Local Authority
J — Artificial Juridical Person
G — Government

3. Fifth is simply the first letter of your surname

4. Next four will surely be numbers ranging from 0000 to 9999

5. 10th is a kind of checksum calculated on the basis of the last 9 digits

Does anyone know how this last digit of PAN number is calculated?? Please let me know
